Autism Training by ASSET

Ros Flack is a Speech and Language Therapist and Phil Roberts, a specialist teacher. They have been working with children and adults with autistic spectrum disorders for many years. Both have worked for several years for the National Autistic Society, and now work as independent advisers to a range of education and health authorities.

OtteraboutRos and Phil are experienced TEACCH practitioners, returning regularly to North Carolina to update their training with Division TEACCH. They have adapted and anglicised the TEACCH model, where possible, making it more suited to UK settings.

They are licensed trainers for the NAS EarlyBird Plus Programme, which jointly trains school staff and parents of children with ASD. They are also trainers for Elklan’s Speech and Language Support in the Classroom and ICAN’s Joint Professional Development Framework, supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs.

Philip and Ros continue to be actively involved with people with autism and their families, through their work with The Tarka Home Trust, a registered charity set up to support people with autism in North Devon.
