| NAS EarlyBird Plus Programme A comprehensive training programme for families of a child between the ages of 4 and 8 years with a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder. Three places are allocated to each family; two for parents/carers and one for a professional who is currently working with their child. Meetings are held once a week over a period of three months. This course is accredited by the National Autistic Society. | | Elklan’s Speech and Language Support in the Classroom This is an accredited 10 week course for education staff, especially classroom assistants. Training is available at 3 different levels:- under 5s; Primary and Secondary. These courses are accredited by The Open College Network, and can also be run over 5 occasional days. | | ICAN’s Supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs. Joint Professional Development Framework: Foundation Level. Suitable for those professionals who are beginning to work with children with SLCD in an educational setting for the first time and assumes little or no prior knowledge. The course is arranged in five units:- 1. What is language? 2. Language development 3. Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) - What they are and how they can be identified 4. Access to the curriculum for children with SLCN 5. Strategies for working with children with SLCN This course is available as 5 separate units or all 5 units as a 2 day course. |
